Meeting with Mr. Lecourtier, Managing Director of Business France
It is with great honor that the students of the Master 1 Diplomacy and International Relations at HEIP will receive on Tuesday, November 9, Mr. Christophe Lecourtier, Managing Director of Business France , as part of a conference which will focus on his career and the diplomatic profession. Economic diplomacy playing an increasingly preponderant role in inter-state relations and within international organizations, the possibility of receiving an expert in this field is a chance for students brought to work in this environment.
This intervention takes place within the framework of the course of Mr. Pierre Mourlevat, professor of diplomacy and international economies at HEIP with the students of masters of the establishment. The pandemic has had a strong impact on French companies based abroad, Mr. Lecourtier will be able to share with us his vision for the future of these companies and future prospects. Added to this is COP26 , sustainable development and ecology, which are more than ever topical issues that concern many bodies of French economic diplomacy. Our speaker will enlighten us on the underside of many political decisions that have shaped these last years.
Christophe Lecourtier, son of the French ambassador Philippe Lecourtier, studied at the Ecole Normale Supérieure in St Cloud, then at the Institute of Political Studies in Paris before joining the National School of Administration in 1989. He began his career in the Department of External Economic Relations, then became technical advisor for European and international affairs to the offices of the Minister of Social Affairs, Health and the City. After having been Head of the European Union external relations sector of the General Secretariat of the interministerial committee for European economic cooperation issues from 1995 to 1997, he was appointed Head of the Continental Asia office, then left for Argentina to perform the function of Head of economic mission until 2002. In France, he rose to the position of Deputy Director of the Cabinet of the Minister Delegate for Foreign Trade (2002-2004), then became Director of the Cabinet of Christine Lagarde until 2008. Then, Christophe Lecourtier was appointed Managing Director of Ubifrance (2008-2014) then Ambassador of the French Republic to Australia (2014-2017). In April 2017, he became Ambassador of the French Republic to Serbia and, following the departure of Muriel Pénicaud, Christophe Lecourtier took over the position of General Manager of Business France, which he has held since September 14, 2017.
