Work-study at HEIP

In the first year of the MSc program, students have the option of doing a sandwich program. They alternate between two weeks in the company and about one week at school.

In the second year of the MSc cycle, some programs are alternating, others are alternating with an internship. The rhythm is approximately one week in the company and one week at school. The school year consists of 11 weeks of classes.

Types of work-study contracts

Work-study programs are available from the first year of the MSc program through various types of contracts. Professionalization contract and apprenticeship contract are the two possible modalities for our students depending on the year and the field in which they are registered.

Professionalization contract

  • Type of employment contract: Fixed-term or open-ended contract of a particular type allowing the beneficiary to obtain a State Diploma, a certified title or a professional qualification.
  • Duration of the contract: between 12 and 24 months.
  • Charges for the employer: salary + remaining training costs depending on the course.
  • Coverage: it is hourly, depending on the OPCO.
  • Weekly working time: is defined by the time applicable in the company and includes the time spent in training.
  • Accessibility: students aged 16 to 25 and job seekers aged 26 and over.
  • Remuneration: depending on 2 indicators: age and the company’s collective agreement (between 65 and 100% of the minimum wage).
  • Length of the trial period: from 2 weeks to 2 months (depending on the length and type of contract).
  • Financing of the training: the training costs are covered by the OPCO (Opérateur de Compétences) to which the company is attached. The professional branches define orientations and priorities in terms of qualification, and it is according to these priorities that the OPCOs validate the financing of training.

Apprenticeship contract

  • Type of employment contract: Fixed-term or permanent. Apprenticeship is a work-study program that combines general and professional education with the acquisition of know-how through initial experience in a company. This is a special type of employment contract that gives the apprentice the status of a young employee, providing training in the company and in the training center, with the training hours being part of the working hours.
  • Contract duration: between 6 and 36 months.
  • Charges for the employer: salary + remaining training costs depending on the course.
  • Coverage: it is a fixed annual fee, depending on the diploma code.
  • Weekly working time: is defined by the time applicable in the company and includes the time spent in training.
  • Accessibility: students under 30 years old.
  • Remuneration: according to 3 indicators: age, year of contract and the company’s collective agreement (between 43 and 100% of the SMIC).
  • Duration of the trial period: 45 days.
  • Financing of the training: the training costs are covered by the OPCO (Opérateur de Compétences) to which the company is attached on the basis of the contract cost published by France Compétences.
