On April 10, HEIP Bordeaux buzzed to the rhythm of a landmark event: the visit of Alain Juppé, former Prime Minister and current member of the Constitutional Council. This exceptional conference was made possible thanks to the tenacity and audacity of the student association Affaires Publiques (APH Bordeaux). We met the architects of this success, and took a behind-the-scenes look at the meticulous organization.

An ambition born of a challenge

It all began in September. Flavian, an active member of the association, recalls:
“Pauline had asked me to interview Aurélien Pradier, invited by APH and Vincent Mauricard. Just before the conference began, she whispered in my ear that it was a test. If all went well, it might pave the way for… Alain Juppé.
The gamble paid off. A few months later, the long-awaited conference became a reality.

A collective and rigorous organization

Behind this high-flying meeting, intense, structured teamwork.
There wasn’t just one process, but several complementary dynamics,” explains Flavian.
The official invitation was extended by Vincent Mauricard, but the association itself mobilized all its divisions.

  • The events department took charge of external logistics and media relations.
  • Vice-presidentLise Romera designed the slide show and coordinated the media.
  • The communications department handled the technical aspects: live broadcasting, photo capture, installation of equipment, and preparation of the rebroadcast.
  • Finally, Pauline and Flavian spent two months working on the questions, drawing on interviews published in Le Monde and Le Point.

A major difficulty: respecting Mr Juppé’s duty of confidentiality. “We had to build a political framework, without ever crossing the red line.

A moment out of time

For Flavian, this conference will remain an unforgettable experience:

“Sitting next to a former Prime Minister is… impressive. You feel propelled into the heart of French politics, with all that that implies in terms of adrenalin and responsibility.”

Beyond the emotion, the event was a school for rigor and collaboration:
“Everything depended on coordination between the divisions, responsiveness and a great ability to adapt. We even changed the order of questions on the day, depending on the mood behind the scenes.

A valuable learning experience

This ambitious project was also a great lesson in community life.
“Working together, under pressure, for a common goal, forges you. The experience gave me self-confidence and a kind of legitimacy.

Flavian concludes, with emotion, with a quote shared by Alain Juppé himself:
“Follow hope, it’s a good friend.”
