Hubert Védrine
Former Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs
At the final conference on Tuesday February 13, 2024, we were privileged to welcome Hubert Védrine, former Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs, on the theme of“Strategy, power and communication: key elements in international relations“. His unrivalled expertise in foreign affairs transformed the room into a veritable think tank, where participants had the unique opportunity to probe the complex workings underlying international relations.
With impressive clarity of exposition, Hubert Védrine demystified the strategic issues shaping our world, offering participants an enlightened view of how global powers interact on the international stage. Each concept was explained with surgical precision, enlightening participants on the challenges and opportunities facing the world.
He shared,“The ecological cause can be the cause that brings the world together.”
This responsible statement resonated throughout the room, inviting participants to envisage new horizons for international cooperation and the construction of a more ecological, innovative future. Addressing conflicts such as the Israeli-Palestinian and Russian-Ukrainian conflicts, he presented his vision and prospects for resolving them in the interests of peace. Finally, he highlighted the imperative of a united and supportive Europe, notably through the creation of a Europe of Defense, as an essential element for the future of the region.
This conference was a rediscovery of the fundamental principles underpinning relations between nations. Thanks to Hubert Védrine’s inspiring presence, participants left the room with a deeper understanding of international issues, a grasp of pre-2000s / 2010s politics, and a strengthened conviction in the potential of global collaboration to shape a more promising future.
It was a veritable lesson in history and geopolitics, in which every concept was explored with rigor and clarity. Thanks to the presence of Jean-François Copé, participants left the room with a renewed awareness of global issues and a strengthened determination to contribute to a future of peace and prosperity, thanks to the vision of an active player in French politics.
Organizing a conference: quite a story!
To ensure the success of the events, which brought together 300 students, it was essential to set up a dedicated team.
Under the direction of CSactu President Alexis Fournet, the event was carefully organized in close partnership with the administration of the host school, HEIP.
Mattéo Pessoa, in charge of conference invitations, is responsible for maintaining close contact with the offices of political figures and managing the team in the field.
Clara Privitera, as Communications Director at Csactu, was responsible for designing all communications materials for the conference and managing the team in the field, with the support of Jade Kouider, Florent Marion and Adrien Page for photography and Timothé Pessoa for video.
Antoine Busson moderated the conference.
Each event was managed with an iron hand by the dynamic team of Zoé Moussaud, Hugo Boulogne, Victor de Labriffe and Clément Le Lendais, all active and committed sports journalists at Csactu and HEIP students. They were in charge of on-site logistics such as registration, seating and security.

Success thanks to invaluable partnerships
Our special thanks go to HEIP (Hautes Études Internationales et Politiques) and the OMNES Education group for their support in organizing these events, hosting the conferences on their Paris campuses, and distributing our communication on their channels.
Their invaluable partnership and unfailing support have enabled us to offer our students unique learning and exchange opportunities, enriching their academic and professional careers.
The collaboration with OMNES Education has been essential in realizing our ambitious vision. In 2024, CSactu wants to be at the heart of the connection between students and decision-makers, which is why we produced a video with the Group’s President: José Milano, and the President of CSactu: Alexis Fournet.
